The Ombudsman will carry out his duties with independence, self-sufficiency and impartiality and will not be subject to imperative mandate or any other university body. For processing any complaint, the University Ombudsman analyses how the university bodies and services are run, guarantees the rights of the university community and make suggestions for improvement if he perceives items requiring these.
The Ombudsman may require reports, make interviews, consult files, and in short, use all techniques he deems appropriate to find out what has happened and comment on the issue. All persons in the university community are obliged to assist him, preferentially when they are asked for their collaboration.
Once the complaint has been accepted for processing, the Ombudsman will begin investigation, immediately informing the body or person whose action has caused the complaint to issue all appropriate reports and statements within a maximum period of 15 working days, and informing all those who may be affected by their content.
The file will be processed in complete confidence, in such a way that while the file is being processed the identity of the person who has made the complaint is not revealed. This is because, in this way it is hoped that the interests of those who have invoked the protection of the University Ombudsman can be safeguarded so that they can fully enjoy their rights together with their desire to not disclose their identity.
