Since 2011, the University Library has offered two online courses entitled: Learning to search for and use information (initial and advanced levels) aimed at UCLM students and taught throught the Transversal Skills Classrooms

  • Initial level, aimed at students who are at the beginning of their studies (first or second year). In it they can find out what resources are available to them in the Library and how they can use them to make their academic life easier: assignments, exams, etc. See the program .

 

  • Advanced level, more technical and specialized (aimed at third and fourth year undergraduate, postgraduate and third cycle students) where they delve into the specific databases of each major subject area, and how to approach a good final degree project or degree project. See the program .

 

  • Students can apply for enrollment, depending on the studies they are undertaking, in one of these four specialties:

  -Health Sciences.

- Legal and Social Sciences.

-Science and Technology.

-Educational Sciences and Humanities.

 

  • Each course is made up of 4 modules, which include a presentation with its basic contents, explanatory videos and complementary materials. Students must pass 4 questionnaires, one per module, in order to pass the course and complete a satisfaction survey.
  • Successful students will obtain a certificate of completion with the possibility of being recognized 1 ECTS credit and added to their academic record.
  • In order to take any of the advanced courses, it is essential to have passed the initial course.

  • Registration is done in Web Courses / courses in the Transversal Competences Classroom (remember that you must first log in with your username and password). From october1, 2024 to July 1, 2025.   

 

Investigación

 The 15th edition will be held from March 3 to 31, 2025. Pre-registration: February 17 to 25, 2025.

Taught by the University Library's Research Support Service. It lasts 50 hours, of which 25 hours correspond to reading the teaching materials provided, and another 25 hours are individual student work, with the course taking place over four weeks. Two calls are offered each year, one around February and another in October..

It is an essential requirement to be a Postgraduate, Master's or Doctorate student at the University of Castilla-La Mancha and to have the UCLM credentials necessary for access to the virtual campus training platform. Between 75 and 100 places are offered in each call and admission is done in strict order of registration. See the program .

The course is structured in an introduction and four modules or teaching units:s:

  • Module 1: How to start a research career..
  • Module 2: Support tools for a research career.
  • Module 3: Sources of information.
  • Module 4: Dissemination and visibility of scientific production.

The aim is to provide practical online training to introduce students to a research career, as well as to the use of certain resources and bibliographic databases. In these cases, guides, video tutorials and tutorials of their own creation or available on the Internet are provided for learning these tools. The evaluation will consist of completing questionnaires, a final guided activity aimed at the use of certain resources, as well as various optional reinforcement activities that help students to consolidate their knowledge. Once 50% of the questionnaires and compulsory activities have been completed, a certificate of aptitude will be obtained.
