María Ángeles Zurilla Cariñana

A graduate in Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), she joined the University of  Castilla-La Mancha in the academic year 1990/1991 for her doctorate. At this very institution she became an associate professor in Civil Law, becoming a full professor at the university in 2009.

Her research has been carried out in different branches of Civil Law and Consumer Rights. As for the latter, professor Zurilla Cariñana  is part of the research team at  the UCLM Centre for Consumption Studies. Likewise, she  has made research stays and teaching missions at the law faculties in Paris, La Rochelle, Montpellier, Florence, Naples, Modena, Warsaw and Vitoria(Brazil) amongst others. 

As a collaborator and main researcher she has participated in numerous research projects funded by the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha and Ministry of Science and Innovation. She has also directed one of the task forces for the European research Project: “Project leader of public health action for a safer Europe”.

As for her management experience, she has been deputy manager and assistant dean of the Cuenca Faculty of Social Sciences. She has been an active participant in numerous commissions designated by the University of  Castilla-La Mancha Board of Governors and Senate, institutions which she also participates as a member-elect. Likewise, she has supervised the course for experts in Prevention of Domestic violence since 2004. 

Her professional career includes being an acting judge for the Cuenca Provincial Court between 1996 and 2005.
